Great value, saved money

I was looking for the best deal on a Mortgage Refinancing, and Academy Mortgage really delivered. I got a lender credit that helped a lot with closing costs, which was a nice surprise. It made the whole experience feel like a smart financial move. The process was explained well, and I felt like I understood where my money was going. For someone who's always watching their budget, this felt like a solid win. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking to save money on your mortgage.

Fantastic FHA loan experience

I just closed on my FHA Loan with Academy Mortgage, and I couldn't be happier! My loan officer was so knowledgeable and made the entire process easy to understand. They were always available to answer my questions, and believe me, I had a lot of them. I even got some help with my down payment through a First-Time Homebuyer Program they connected me with. It felt like they genuinely cared about helping me get into my first home. The closing process was quick, too, which was a huge relief. I've already told my friends who are thinking about buying a house to give them a call!

Good experience overall

I used Academy Mortgage for a Conventional Home Loan. The loan officer consultation was really helpful. They explained everything clearly, which I appreciated since I'm not super familiar with all the mortgage stuff. The process went smoothly, and I didn't hit any major snags. It was a pretty stress-free experience, honestly. I'd definitely consider them again if I ever need another loan.

What's the deal with their pre-approval process? Is it super fast or do they drag it out?

A Ashley Scott 1 week ago
I got pre-approved in like a day. Once they had all my docs, it was quick.

Mine took a couple days because I had some weird stuff on my credit report. But once that was sorted, they got me the letter pretty fast. It's not an instant thing, but definitely quicker than a lot of places.

Thinking about getting a VA loan through Academy. Are their rates competitive compared to, say, Rocket or Fairway?

M Matt Rodriguez 3 weeks ago
Always shop around, but I found their VA rates to be decent when I checked last year. Rocket was pretty aggressive with theirs too.

I ended up going with Academy for my VA loan last year. Their rate wasn't the absolute lowest but the closing costs were really good, and my loan officer was super responsive which made a huge difference.

hey, anyone used academy mortgage recently? wondering about their closing times. like, how long did it actually take from app to closing day?

R Ryan Lopez 4 days ago
Mine was pretty quick, like under a month and a half. but it really depends on the loan type and how fast you get them documents.

Yeah, I closed in about 35 days last spring. They were pretty good about keeping things moving. definitely faster than my last refi with a big bank.

Anyone know if they offer any specific programs or benefits for first-time homebuyers?

J Josh C. 4 days ago
They do, I think. My friend got some down payment assistance through them when he bought his first house last year.

Yeah, they have programs, though it depends on where you're buying too. I got some info about DPA and first-time homebuyer grants from my loan officer. Worth asking them directly, they can tell you what's available in your area.

Is Academy Mortgage the same as Guild Mortgage now? kinda confused with all the branding.

D David Thomas 1 day ago
yeah, they got acquired by Guild. so they're part of Guild now.

L Linda Flores 1 day ago
Right, it's basically Guild. The loan officers are still kinda branded as Academy but the systems and all that are Guild's now. Makes sense they'd keep the name for a bit since Academy was pretty big.
